FLORENCE FOOD & MARKET WALKING TOUR

Taste traditional food is an essential part of experiencing the authentic flavours of a city. Experience Tuscan cuisine like a real local!

Meet your guide at the Conference Venue and departure for a fantastic walking tour! First tour stop in a charming Florentine Cafe where you can sip a cappuccino, eat a delicious local pastry and discuss this essential Italian morning ritual. Then proceed to the city's most authentic food market, Sant'Ambrogio, passing through the marvelous treasure and the innermost secrets of this incredible city. Sant'Ambrogio, another project by Mengoni, is a fascinating and colourful place to visit, to experience the authentic food and get a taste of Florentine life! Your guide will accompany you through its dizzying array of fresh produce, meats, cheeses (most notably the Tuscan pecorinos), fish and baked goods. Don't miss to taste the famous Florence's 'Lampredotto', a local institution rooted in the traditional tripe stalls, still present in the city. Connoisseurs recommend asking to be given a 'panino bagnato'.

Continue with a stop at a characteristic 'Vinaino' (an old street wine vendor) where you'll enjoy a glass of an excellent Chianti wine accompanied by local specialties like 'finocchiona', a special kind of salami aromatized with fennel seeds, and the typical Tuscan 'crostini' wine tasting with snacks.

The tour will end at a gourmet food shop, where you can enjoy food and discuss the ingredients that go into the traditional Tuscan dishes. Here you will have plenty of time to purchase unique gourmet food gifts to take back home or to enjoy later at your hotel.

This walk is a great opportunity to stock up on any Florentine ingredients you might like to bring home with you!
