This panel session will explore the relationship between software and sustainability, and the responsibilities of software engineers in bringing about a sustainable world. The session will begin with a brief overview of the Karlskrona Manifesto on Sustainability Design, presented by Christoph Becker of the University of Toronto. The panelists will then respond to the challenge laid out in this manifesto, exploring whether it offers a productive vision for researchers and practitioners, and, beyond the manifesto itself, what other steps the ICSE community ought to take to address sustainability in our roles as educators, researchers, and software practitioners.
